Continued success for Gigantic Duck Games as company growth accelerates. Plans for Bombergrounds: Reborn beta-test in February 2022.

It has only been a few months since the computer game company from Borås Gigantic Duck successfully raised SEK 10 million funding from external investors. Since then, the company has grown from 4 to 12 employees and over 2.6 million people have now tried the simpler version of the game Bombergrounds. The launch of a full-scale version is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022.

In September Jimmy Nyström and Alexander Martinovic announced that they had managed to attract investors in order to expand the company and develop a full-scale game.

– We have had a hectic autumn, but we are extremely pleased with the progress we have made. This spring’s launch will be really exciting, says Jimmy Nyström, CEO of Gigantic Duck.

Alexander Martinovic, vice president of Gigantic Duck, agrees.

– We feel strengthened before the launch of the game and the new co-owners add a lot to the table. It feels like we have something really good going on.

Gigantic Duck will begin testing of a beta version of the game in February, and later this spring the full-scale version will be released under the name Bombergrounds: Reborn.

“A success story”

In 2019, Gigantic Duck began its journey and was accepted to Science Park Skövde’s startup program for games, a successful program that is also available at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg. They have previously helped companies such as Iron Gate and Hiber, companies that today are both large and successful. Last year, Iron Gate released the game Valheim, which broke a number of records worldwide last year and Hiber raised around SEK 200 million in investments.

The development and journey of Gigantic Duck has been very positive and now the company is ready to stand on its own two feet.

– The help we received in the startup program has been invaluable in our work to develop our game idea and our company. That we can also be part of Sweden Game Arena’s growing gaming community means a lot to us, says Jimmy Nyström.

Jimmy Öman, business developer at Science Park Skövde’s startup program for games, has followed Gigantic Duck since the start.

– Gigantic Duck is a success story. That companies should grow strong and manage on their own is exactly what is the goal of our business as an incubator.
